Lazy Susan are a sketch double act made of Freya Parker and Celeste Dring, who have been making waves in recent times with shows that get bigger and better each year. Their sketches are unpredictable, silly and surreal, no surprise, then, that they were nominated for the Foster’s Best Newcomer Award in 2014. Lazy Susan bring their latest show, Crazy Sexy Fool, to this year’s Edinburgh Festival, and it is one that everyone seems to be talking about.
I spoke to Lazy Susan’s Freya Parker to find out more about the double act…
1) What do you think about your comedy partner?
She’s the funniest person I know. She also has a mind like no other, she is making me write this please help…
2) Do you have a favourite painting?
I don’t have an especial favourite but I have (prints of) Peter Doig and Gerhard Richter in my lil’ flat.
3) Are you powerful?
When comedy goes well you do feel powerful. But also you might spend late nights sewing a pair of marigolds to a sheet or something like that, only for the prop to get cut: less powerful.
4) What are the best pizza toppings?
Black olives and eggs!
5) What is your best trait?
I’m a modest legend.
6) Are you easily stressed?
Depends on the task. I like to think I’m fairly chilled out but I also have a crushing suspicion that no one else would describe me that way.
7) Why should people come to your Edinburgh show?
Well there’s no ‘should’ about it really, but if it sounds like your kind of thing, don’t hold back! It does feature the best prop we’ve ever made so that might be something to turn out for.
